HOW DO I CHOOSE AN X-RAY MACHINE?

There are several components that go into choosing the right x-ray machine.  Most important aspects are tunnel size, generator power, capacity, software capability, and features.  At Astrophysics we have a wide variety of options to offer you and can assist you with your decision process every step of the way.  Please review our How to Choose An X-Ray Machine brochure for added guidance.

WHERE DO YOU MANUFACTURE AND ASSEMBLE THE X-RAY MACHINES?

Astrophysics purchases primarily from US vendors and 100% of the assembly takes place at our headquarters in the United States.  Assembling at our headquarters gives us direct control over quality and improved manufacturing efficiency, all this we pass onto the customer in lead time, reliability and value.  In addition, Astrophysics has its own fabrication company to lower the cost of mechanical parts, and we in turn extend this discount to the customer.

WHERE DO YOU SHIP TO?

We can ship an x-ray system to anywhere in the world.  We manufacture and ship over 6,000 systems worldwide every year.

CAN YOU INSTALL A SYSTEM ANYWHERE?

Yes!  We can install your x-ray system anywhere in the world.

WHAT TECHNICAL SERVICES DOES ASTROPHYSICS OFFER?

Astrophysics certified Field Service Technicians are locally placed in more than 100 countries to provide an immediate customer service response. Moreover, our systems have a commonality of parts, namely off-the shelf components that are globally available- instead of proprietary company parts that require you pay more and wait for timely shipping. This smart serviceability allows us to provide faster and more cost effective service to our customers.

WHERE DO YOUR CERTIFIED SERVICE TECHNICIANS TRAVEL TO?

Anywhere in the world!  Astrophysics Certified Field Service Technicians are locally placed in more than 100 countries to provide an immediate customer service response.

DOES AN X-RAY MACHINE DAMAGE YOUR CELL PHONE OR COMPUTER?

Extensive tests have been executed both with computers and cell phones over a long period of time and exposure to x-rays thousands of times over. It has been concluded that x-rays do not damage or wipe-off information from computers and cell phones.

DOES AN X-RAY MACHINE DAMAGE FILMS?
A new series of independent, scientific tests has revealed that x-ray screening machines have no visible effect on the current types of still camera film subjected to routine hand baggage x-ray examination under normal conditions.

WHAT SAFETY FEATURES ARE THERE ON AN X-RAY MACHINE?
Astrophysics’ systems have multiple standard safety features including interlocks on doors and panels.  These include sensors that identify if the protective lead panels are in place, e-stops to ensure safety at all times, a lead shielded chamber for protection against x-ray radiation, warning lights for a visual caution when x-rays are produced, and the system cannot operate without a key switch.

ARE THERE SAFETY STANDARDS ON AN X-RAY MACHINE?
All x-ray manufacturers are required to meet certain safety standards, which are designed to protect people from harmful effects while using the equipment. Astrophysics Inc. is ISO9001:2008 compliant and meet the safety standards.

WHAT IS AN EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON (E-STOP)?
When activated, Emergency Stops prevent x-rays from being produced and the conveyor belt from moving. There is a minimum of two emergency stop buttons located on the machine and another on the operator control panel.

IS THERE ANY REQUIREMENTS TO INSTALL AN X-RAY MACHINE ON SITE?
Some things to keep in mind that is a must at any installation: You must have space for the machine. You must have a fork lift or means to transport the shipment (generally a large crate or palette) to the exact desired installation location. You will also need a power supply that is ample enough for the machine size. Make sure that the doorway is big enough to get the x-ray machine through.

WHAT IS IMAGE ARCHIVING?
This feature enables the x-ray machine to save information to the computer for review at a later stage.

WHAT IS AN X-RAY GENERATOR?
The x-ray generator is the heart of the x-ray machine. Astrophysics' generators are the durable and reliable energy source of the x-ray system. Astrophysics' x-ray generators are available in a variety of outputs including 90kV, 160kV, 180kV, 200kV, and 320kV.  When the generator is turned off, no x-rays are emitted.

DOES THE X-RAY MACHINE HAVE A COMPUTER?
Yes, the x-ray system has a computer that analyzes x-ray information and projects and stores images. It also runs the software features such as Threat Image Projection (TIP), Screener Assist, and 6 Color Imaging.

DOES THE MACHINE HAVE AN UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY (UPS)?
Yes, the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) provides backup power to the PC in the event of a power failure or power surge.
