President & CEO: Francois Zayek

The founder of Astrophysics Inc., Francois has over 24 years of experience in instrumentation with 8 of those in Physical Optics and 16 in X-Ray Imaging for medical and security applications. He is well recognized by civil aviation administrations around the globe. His key contributions include the design and development of a new instrument based on x-ray backscatter for underground mine detection.

Prior to founding Astrophysics Inc., he also founded Xaytek and was the VP of Research and Development and VP of Engineering for PerkinElmer - also known as EG&G Astrophysics (1995-2000). In this capacity, he was the principal investigator for several projects including one for the development of a new CTl project that was funded by the FAA.

From 1987 to 1995, he was the Director of Research and Development at Bio-Imaging Research. He also worked as a Consultant for Toshiba Medical where he designed and developed Multi-Slice CT equipment for medical applications.


 

   
VP Engineering Operations: Michel Kamel


Co-Founder & Director, Space Launch Corporation. Michel co-founded Space launch Corporation in 1999 and has been on its Board of Directors since then. From 1999 to 2004, he initially served as its Chief Technical Officer, and subsequently as the COO and CFO while the company grew from zero reve
nues to $12M. year revenues. He has led the efforts of strategic risk analysis, product life cycle cost analysis, and along with other members of the executive sets the company’s technical and financial strategies. Michel was also involved in promoting the company’s business plan in the relevant financial and industry circles.

Senior Scientist, Technanogy LLC. Led the research and development of new solid propellant technologies for launch vehicles. He was also member of Technanogy’s corporate strategy team, responsible for evaluating company growth strategies.

Ph.D from the mechanical engineering department of Stanford University. Published and presented his results at more than a dozen national and international conferences and workshops. Pursued courses in decision analysis and strategic planning, which culminated in an internship as a strategy consultant with a Silicon Valley Company.

Co-founder of three non-profit organizations.
