Tools for Better

Threat Detection

Astrophysics Inc.’s software and hardware features work together to help operators detect threats faster and increase overall throughput and security optimization. Integrated software facilitates effective screening and provides precise data needed to pinpoint possible threats in bags, pallets and cargo containers.

 color imaging
6 COLOR IMAGING

Assigns color to objects based on their composition.

Astrophysics Inc. was the first to introduce this groundbreaking feature, which assigns colors to objects based on their material composition, including objects highlighted below:

  • Organic materials (i.e. C-4, plastic explosives)
  • Low inorganic materials (i.e. drugs and narcotics)
  • High inorganic materials (i.e. glass, propellants)
  • Light metals (i.e. gunpowder, IEDs)
  • Heavy metals (i.e. firearms, bullets, knives)
  • Dense metals (i.e. gold, silver, other high-value contraband)

The rich colors enhance material discrimination, helping operators distinguish among a wide range of objects, decipher images more effectively, and isolate threats in less time with greater accuracy.

Tools for
Better Detection.

Black & White

black and whiet

Displays scanned images in a standard grayscale display, with dense materials appearing black.

High Penetration Function

high penetration function

Allows operators to adjust image contrast in darker regions for improved visibility.

Organic/Inorganic Imaging

inorganic imaging

Emphasizes organic and inorganic materials identified in x-ray scans.

Pseudo Color

pseudo color

Applies multiple color palettes to scanned images, helping improve object recognition.

Continuous Scanning

continous scanning

Ensures the x-ray system scans every object, including those too small or light to trigger tunnel sensors.

Reverse Monochrome

reverse monochrom

Creates a reverse grayscale image, reducing eye strain and improving object recognition.

Image Review

image archive

Allows operators and supervisors to review previously scanned images for evaluation or training.

Real-Time Self Diagnostics

real time self diagnostics

Continuously monitors and reports on scanner’s component performance.

Features Include

Geometric Image Distortion Correction

Prevents scanned images from appearing skewed or warped, due to the variable distance of objects from the detector array.

Real-Time Manipulation

Gives operators immediate access to the full suite of Astrophysics’ imaging tools during the scanning process.

Light/Dark

Allows operators to manually adjust the contrast, lightening or darkening images for improved assessment.

Zoom

Allows operators to focus on specific image sections, zooming in to closely evaluate suspicious objects.

Continuous Zoom

Allows operators to zoom in on an object up to 64x.

Edge Enhancement

Instantly improves the shape and outline of objects in a scanned image, to separate them from one another and increase clarity.

9-Quadrant Zoom

Divides the x-ray into 9 equal sections corresponding to a number on the control panel keypad. Pressing numbers 1-9 allows operators to instantly zoom in to evaluate areas of concern.

Atomic Number Measurement

Allows operators to drag and select a box around an object and generate its atomic number. Atomic numbering helps operators ascertain an object’s composition and judge whether it is potentially dangerous.

Vertical Zoom Panning

Allows operators to move the image up or down while zoomed in on-screen.

Auto Image Archiving

Automatically stores the last 100,000 images scanned, so operators can review them for training purposes or so administrators can access them for evaluation. Once maximum capacity has been reached, the system deletes the oldest images to store new ones.

Image Review

Permits operators and supervisors to review previously scanned images.

Save Image

Allows operators to manually save a scanned image on the system's hard drive.

Standard Operator Training

At installation, operators learn about basic parts, safety systems, and imaging tools.

Baggage Counter

Tracks the number of bags scanned by the system.

Advanced Operator Control Panel (AOCP)

Ergonomic, alphanumeric control panel for the scanner’s systems.
